The official site for Call of Duty Black Ops 2 has now gone live, confirming one of the worst-kept secrets of 2012 so far.

The release date of November 13 has also been officially cemented for the first time. Meanwhile a pair of leaked images, posted below as you can see with your eyes, show that the game is indeed set in the near future, as rumoured.

The first trailer, due to be shown this evening, is also visible on the site – although there doesn't appear to be any way to watch it, as the clip is currently set to private.

It's not clear exactly what's happened here, but somehow it's hard to believe this is all in accordance with Activision's plans.

So, not content with competing with Battlefield, Activision are now after Ghost Recon too? I had to think really hard there about who they were competing with too, Activision seem to be synonymous with the FPS genre now.

Bet £1 Activision planned everything in advance to make it look like it's all unplanned.
