A Sony executive has inferred that Activision is looking to release a version of Call of Duty for the PlayStation Vita this year.

"In the Autumn, [my kids] are really looking forward to Call of Duty on Vita," said Guy Longworth, Sony's new senior vice president of PlayStation brand marketing to GameTrailers (via Gamasutra), "and that's going to be an absolute game changer for the platform."

Activision has already said another Call of Duty title will be released this year, but has not formally announced anything yet. Our money is on Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Longworth neglected to mention whether this supposed version of Call of Duty would be produced exclusively for the Vita, or whether it would be a port of the console versions.

Let's hope Longworth's kids are at least 18 years old, however, otherwise they won't be able to enjoy the age-rated violence of the Call of Duty series.

Activision has pledged its support for Sony's new handheld, which releases in Europe this Wednesday.
