Bionic Commando sells only 27k in the US

GRIN's Terminator Salvation also performs poorly.

According to data provided to Gamasutra by the NPD Group, both Bionic Commando and Terminator Salvation failed to generate significant sales in May.

Both GRIN developed games were released in the US on May 19 for Xbox 360 and PS3, but in the period up to May 30 Terminator Salvation sold 43,000 units and Bionic Commando sold only 27,000 units.

Bionic Commando, based on the 1980's side-scroller, could end up being Capcom's first major flop in the high definition era, having previously successfully launched Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Devil May Cry 4, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5.

Back in August 2008, Capcom announced that Bionic Commando Rearmed, a XBLA/PSN/PC remake of the original game achieved sales of more than 130,000 in its first week.

I can't believe it's only sold 27K in the US. Terminator Salvation I can understand, as every review has pretty much said it's short and a bit sh!t. But Bionic Commando seemed ok to me, and I enjoyed the online demo too. Reviews certainly didn't point towards poor sales figures.

And £18 is a bargain. Thanks for that info.

I'm playing through Bionic Commando (though wish I'd waited for the price drop now!) and I'm still impressed with it. It's a typical Capcom game, huge difficult bosses and some nice retro touches. Deserves more sales than this.

Zavvi had it for £17.95 yesterday as well...

Then please explain to me, if graphics are of the importance that you say, why Mario Kart Wii sits there on 15 million sales? By your logic, every other driving/racing game released this generation should be at 20 million minimum.

They failed in the reason that Spiderman does it, and a couple other game do it too. The grappling to enemies and stuff IM looking at you JUST CAUSE 2. The story is ............. and the graphics didnt look great in fact they looked like 2003 Graphics. IM sorry. I dont even feel inspired to rent you. IM sorry. Capcom if you are reading this. This is why. We love Assassins Creed, and UNcharted. Believe me Graphics have a lot to do with it.
