Players hoping to jump into the Battlefield 4 beta on PC must have a 64-bit operating system to access it, DICE has announced.

In an update on the Battlefield Blog, general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson said that the studio had chosen to to "focus our efforts on testing the 64-bit version of the game", adding that "the full version of the game will also run on 32-bit Windows OS".

64-bit versions of Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 are all compatible with the beta.

The Battlefield 4 beta launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC tomorrow, October 1 to Battlefield 4 PC Digital Deluxe Edition pre-order customers, users with a Battlefield 3 Premium membership or who previously purchased Medal of Honor: Warfighter's Limited Edition.

It is due to open up to everybody this Friday, October 4.

The beta features the Siege of Shanghai multiplayer map first revealed at E3 on both Conquest and Domination modes.

Be aware, however, that any progress made in the beta will not be carried over into the full game, due to launch on November 1.

Hopefully 32bit systems will go the way of XP.
