The CGI acceptance speech for Best Character at last weekend's VGAs has got the rumour mill turning - is Rocksteady working on Batman: Arkham World?

In the CGI sequence The Joker held up a script titled "Batman: Arkham World" before saying "Whoops! Spoilers."

What's not clear is whether or not The Joker's intentional slip up was supposed to tease Rocksteady's next project or if the studio was simply having a joke with the audience.

In addition to picking up the Best Character Award, Arkham City also took home Best Xbox 360 Game, Best Action/Adventure Game and Best Adapted Video Game awards.

I could see why Rocksteady/Warner Beos. would want to keep the semantic string throughout the series, but I do agree - replacing 'Arkham' with the much more iconic 'Gotham' would offer just as much a powerful meaning.

The game doesn't need to be Arkham anything! The obvious progression should be -Arkham Asylum - Arkham City - Gotham City. Let us play in the glorious backdrops that we have seen in both games. Let us foil bank robberies and common muggings as side quests - let us take a leap from the pinnacle of the Wayne Enterprises building and let us explore Wayne Mansion and THE Bat Cave! In Gotham City anything goes and the possibilities are endless!

I think they have already shown that they aren't a one trick pony. ;)

Arkham World just doesn't sound right for the Caped Crusader. I'm leaning towards a Arkham Asylum approach with the third.

I kinda hope that they aren't making Arkham World. The first two games were great. But, during the second game I was definitely getting a sense of Déjà vu.

Spread your wings Rocksteady.. Show us you're not a one trick pony.
