I'm not sure why everyone loves to hate on Bad Company 2's single-player campaign. Sure, it's not top tier, but it's easily as good as many other highly acclaimed shooters. It might be seen by many as the option on the menu they never go to, with multiplayer being the meat of the package, but I honestly think it's worth a look. It's a shame, as the negative reaction to the campaign has probably hurt overall opinion on the title, which has the best large-scale team multiplayer of any shooter released this generation.

I have a lot of love for Bad Company 2, which just so happens to be home to my single favourite gaming moment of 2010. We're trundling down the forested slopes of Valpariso in an ATV, notching up some sweet early kills by barrelling through enemies as we cut through the knee-deep foliage. But one aggressive attempt to take out a sniper causes me to lose control of the vehicle and trundle off the edge of a cliff at full speed. My passenger - expecting imminent death - is understandably upset, but the ATV hits the rooftop of a nearby building; the car then speeds down it, flies straight off the other end and - thanks to the fact it's been rigged to the gills with C4 - manages to blow a hole in the building housing the M-COM station we set out to destroy in the first place. Oh, and the explosion cuts through a pair of feeble, awe-struck enemies at the same time. The M-COM station is swiftly destroyed, and the whole thing was like something out of an action movie.

I've always had a fondness for the over-encumbered Engineer. Often overlooked and never thrown onto front lines, but instead out back making milky tea for the weary troops. Yes, the Engineer is often portrayed as a lame support class, but not here. Bad Company 2 sees you opposite tanks - TANKS not PEOPLE - in a suicidal dance with rockets! The insanity of doing this in real life is something that not many would, could or even be willing to achieve, but Bad Company 2 makes it possible. Of the four classes, no single one feels more or less entertaining to play, though I still feel that the recon has the best sniping mechanics of any FPS to date. This game in its entirety can be summed up with two things: War and Destruction 2.0. There are no safe hiding spots here, with most (if not all) classes able to somehow blow a gargantuan hole in that building you've become so attached to. Have fun camping on a battlefield.

But it is this aspect of the game that I find rewarding. I feel that I am genuinely progressing in the Bad Company 2 multiplayer, both in terms of XP and in my playing ability.
Despite the modern warfare setting of both games (I know blops is set during the 70s, but it Feels exactly the same as Modern Warfare 2), but they are different beasts. If I had pick one game to play, it will always be Bad Company.

I really don't like comparing it to CoD, though - it's usually something I refuse to get drawn into, and I know it's been a question that's been posed to me a few times over the course of the year. I very much enjoy Call of Duty, but for completely different reasons to Bad Company.
If you can only afford to buy/play one shooter then, yeah, it's probably more important to work out which one is best for you, but I think Bad Company 2 is strong (and unique) enough to stand on its own merits instead of this constant comparison to Blops. It's just a trend I've observed on forums - you rarely see the same kind of constant comparisons levied between Halo and CoD, for instance.

I found i was constantly killed very quickly within spawning from annoying snipers in the majority of maps. It was frustration to the highest level.
Even if the core online is more enjoyable for some, COD offers Zombies mode, which is incredible fun with a few mates, combat training, letting you step into a "midway" point if you like between offline and online, wager matches, which although seemed to be more of a gimmick i found to be extremely enjoyable.
The depth in statistical coverage of your games is almost mind boggling, on COD you can check where you hit your opponents body the most and even check your individual kill death and accuracy with each gun you use.
I think Treyarch and Infinity Ward are trying to make their games more sociable, and in depth than other first person shooters. There just seems more to do in the game. Even if you dont like the muliplayer or single player then there are other features to it which cant be said for a lot of other shooters. To some this could be a jack of all trades scenario, though the record breaking sales suggests that it must be doing something right. (advertising ;) )
I am not saying that BC is a bad game, or that COD is better (i personally have been frustrated with the COD multiplayer recently), I'm merely trying to suggest reason why, for most, COD is a much more accessible game.
EDIT: Also i forgot the Theater mode, being able to watch all you latest games and your friends, letting you analyze technique, playing style, where to go, what to use etc. And to save these in file shares. Halo Esq? Maybe. Still brilliant though.

While CoD feel tired and uninspired, Bad Company oozes class and style.
While CoD goes for quantity over quality, Bad Company offers great maps and game modes. There's no padding, just well designed content.
I really don't know why EA tried to take the Medal of Honor franchise and turn it into a Cod beater, when they already had Bad Company.

Bad Company 2 sh*ts all over CoD. The only reason I would ever put a Cod disc back in any drive is to try Blops campaign. I have absolutely no desire to try Blops multiplayer after almost performing a self-labotomy from my experience with MW2. And how the f*ck am I meant to accept a tomohawk being thrown all the way across a map, bouncing off a wall and hitting another player in the leg for a kill? Please...
BC2 just works. Bullet drop & Destruction 2.0 are my friend. Squad based and tactical gameplay open up a range of ways to play the game. We can all be John Rambo when we lone wolf it. Or we can stick together and play as a unified force.
There's no safe place to hide, and then there's what Martin has referred to, those Battlefield moments which just play out during any battle. Moments that baffle, awe and inspire. Moments that couldn't be choreographed if you tried...
With BC2, I am home.

I see Call Of Duty as a fashion accessory like clothes. Everybody buys it because there friend has got it and so on. Bad Company 2 doesn't have that feel to it in my opinion which sits prettier in gaming communities such as us. If I was to choose which was better out of BlOps and BC2. I would say BC2, as I had more fun, tense situations. Even in a building you are not safe in BC2. As I thought I would be after running away from a tank to a few minutes later of being quiet, the whole building collapsed and I died. I lol'd but damn f-ing and blinding as I should of known better.

BFBC2, however, is a munch newer experience. It has changed considerably from the prequel. Substantially enough to actually warrant a release. For example they added Destruction 2.0. What did Blops add? A couple new online modes, that could have easily been some DLC to MW2, and a singleplayer action sequence.
I'm not saying Blops is a bad game, Its not. There has been time pumped into it. But, like every yearly game, there seems to be something forced about it. Something that doesn't quite fit. Whereas, in my opinion Bad Company 2 had much longer to fix everything people didn't like in the first, upgrade it and keep supporting it through DLC and Patches. It just kept getting better. Something Blops, isn't looking like its doing, even after its 1200msp map packs.
New, innovative and fun games should come before re-skinned sequels.

Bad Company 2 is far more in-depth then the online of BlOps. Though BlOps offers a rather traditional FPS online experience with thrown in freebies to keep people clued to the screens and don't receive too much bad feedback. Comparing both online. I get on both with them like a house on fire. BlOps is more concealed and not too big of maps. Bad Company 2 offers the vast maps and the more 'aware approach' and you will always been turning around to cover your own arse.

I've barely touched the Blops multiplayer, as it feels terribly underwhelming compared to BC2.
Disappointed that Blops will place higher than this.
