Last week Ubisoft Montreal's Jean-Francois Boivin, associate producer on the Assassin's Creed franchise, told Eurogamer that he didn't think there was going to be a new Assassin's Creed game in 2011, noting he felt the franchise needed a "breather".

It turns out that Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot might not share the same view. Speaking to investors last night, the CEO said: "The decision is not theirs."

He concluded: "It would not be right to comment right now."

That's not confirmation of a new Assassin's Creed in 2011, but it certainly leaves the door wide open.

That's actually a really good idea! As you say it would be cool to play as the assassin's shown in the tomb in AC2. At the moment the only one springing to mind is Attila the Hun though.

I suppose that they could drag Assassin's Creed out longer than most games, but I think if they make any more than... four games in the main series then it will be simply too much.

Oh, just make it a chapters-based story involving the six assassin featured in the Tomb. Episodic, a difference in settings and equipment a standalone full game coudn't really offer as well, and there would be something for everyone. That's what I'd do...

But then, I really want to play as the Egyptian assassin... ;)

I think the developer should have the right to say when it comes or not. I'm not expecting that much from Brotherhood, as it will just be a expansion pack to Assassins Creed II. Which maybe controversial as people may think, should they have took Bioware's route in terms of Dragons Age?

I still think Assassins's Creed has a lot to offer. I'm a big fan of the franchise and I rather have a really polished 3rd game of Assassins and really show some more jaw-dropping moments.
