Ubisoft is working on 3D feature films based on Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon, according to a report on Variety. The projects are being handled by the publisher's film and TV production team, Ubisoft Motion Pictures.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures is headed by Jean-Julien Baronnet, along with Didier Lupfer, senior VP of production and development, and Jean de Rivieres, senior VP of international marketing and distribution.

"Our strategy is not to diversify but to bolster the appeal of our franchises - that's why we want to make sure our films will reflect the brands accurately and consolidate our fan base while expanding beyond the games' primary target audience," said Jean de Rivieres, senior VP of international marketing and distribution.

"We want to keep ownership, retain control over the film content, and we're open to work with studios on the development of our projects, and eventually collaborate on the pre-casting, pre-budget and script," added Ubisoft Motion Pictures head Jean-Julien Baronnet.

With the three films based on some of the biggest franchises in gaming, it's no surprise that they have gained interest from US studios. Analysis

We'd like to see a film based on Assassin's Creed, while Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon would easily translate to the big screen - hopefully none of them will suffer from an action overload, although Ghost Recon could easily turn into a macho war film.
