Anno 1404 confirmed for March 2009

Promises to bring the Anno series to a new level with a richness of features never before seen.

Ubisoft has today announced that it will develop Anno 1404, the highly anticipated sequel in the award-winning building-strategy Anno brand. To date Anno titles have sold over five million units worldwide.

The game is currently in development for PC and will be set in the Orient, with players tasked with exploring a strange and fascinating island world. Players will get to know the culture and the technology of the ancient Orient while learning the tricks of the local trade, diplomacy and economy in order to construct their own metropolis.

Players should enjoy greater creative freedom thanks to new customisable elements, dozens of embellishing objects and bigger islands and worlds. This should lead to the creation of a metropolis which is truly unique. The game will also feature a new intuitive interface, plus a new modifiable sandbox mode designed to make the game enjoyable for everyone to play.

Anno 1404 is scheduled for a worldwide release in March 2009.
