Aliens: Colonial Marines mostly comes out in the autumn
SEGA and Gearbox's shooter to miss spring release window.
SEGA has announced that the Gearbox Software developed Aliens: Colonial Marines will now launch some time in the autumn, not spring as originally intended.
"Aliens: Colonial Marines is a process of creativity and invention and those don't necessarily follow the structure of an assembly line. While setting clear goals, deadlines and predictions is helpful, they are often subjective," read a statement from SEGA to Eurogamer.
"We don't want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritising this goal over the previously targeted date."
Earlier in the month the contents of the Aliens: Colonial Marines Special Editon was leaked online. The game is due for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. A version of the game has also been announced for the Wii U.
Gearbox is also working on Borderlands 2 and Brothers in Arms: Furious 4.
VideoGamer.com Analysis
Given how long we've already had to wait for Aliens: Colonial Marines, a delay of a few months isn't much. Hopefully Gearbox will deliver the Aliens FPS we've been craving.
