The biggest games of 2012 rounded up.

Did you enjoy all of 2011's brilliant games? You did? That's fantastic. Now forget about them all immediately, and start secreting from your hype glands in frothy anticipation for what's coming out in 2012. While there's bound to be some stuff announced later - like the next Call of Duty - here's our picks of upcoming 2012 games we already know about, part one:

BioShock Infinite

BioShock is probably the most critically celebrated game of all time, and attempting to follow it was never going to be an easy task - but Irrational Games has been contractually obligated to try. All we really know right now is that it's set in 1912, you play as a chap called Booker DeWitt, and your mission is to rescue a woman named Elizabeth from air-city Columbia. Knowing Irrational Games, it'll probably have a twist where the whole thing is the drug-induced dream of a race of people made entirely out of cheddar. We can't wait!

I suppose I'll have a little bit of times to play some 2011 games, but not much.

I like how this list isn't in order. I'm sick of top tens now :/

If my decision were based on this list alone I think I'd skip 2012 almost completely.

The most important question for me is whether Sega will see the error of their ways and bring us a new Shenmue and a proper port of NiGHTs in 2012.

I agree with David on FIFA 13, yet it will be a fine romp smashing the ball in the back of the net. Already in this part shows the quality of what this year will bring us, yet the following are the games I am looking forward too: Borderlands 2, Aliens Colonial Marines, NeverDead, Mass Effect 3, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Luigi's Mansion 2, Kid Icarus: Uprising plus many more.

Bioshock is definitely a game I will be getting. Still need to finish Bioshock 2, but it isn't on par with the likes of Bioshock 1.

Whilst the Video Gamer staff were on an Xmas break we already covered all of this in the forums :P

Only kidding, it's good to see a detailed list of games with attached trailers, it makes them seem more real to me. From this list Bioshock Infinite and GTA V (although I'm still not convinced this be a 2012 release) are the games i'm most anticipating, along with The Last of Us, which assume will be in the next part of the article.

These can all wait though as I still have plenty of 2011 titles to catch up on, so I'm hoping to pick up a few bargains on that front.

ps...although I love Fifa, can't say I'm excited about Fifa 13, it will be like Fifa 12 but just a little bit better, as each new Fifa game is.
