Konami drops Iraq-based FPS

Negative reaction to the title cited for the publisher's decision.
Konami is reported to have dropped Iraq-based console FPS Six Days in Fallujah.
Earlier this month Konami announced a publishing agreement to bring Atomic Games’ FPS to North America, but the announcement was met with a bombardment of press and public feedback questioning the suitability of the game.
"After seeing the reaction to the video game in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it," said a Konami spokesperson. "We had intended to convey the reality of the battles to players so that they could feel what it was like to be there."
No European release had been announced.

That statement is probably worth a thread on its own. Releasing a game based in Iraq, when there is a war going on, with the intention of giving gamers the eperience of being there? I mean wtf were they thinking? The game looked quite good I'll grant them that, but I think a bit of tact might be advised when coming up with a new war game. If you want to blame anyone don't blame the US Government, blame the development team for not thinking this might be a little inappropriate at the moment.
What's next? A hitman game where you have to kill people using a new strain of swine flu?
(On side note, I laughed at the bit at the end of CoD:WaW when the credits dedicated the game to the heroes of WW2, just before you get to play against Zombie Nazis. Heartfelt words indeed.)
