Xbox One passed FCC certification "earlier this summer before PS4", Microsoft's Larry Hryb has revealed, suggesting that the console had been further along in the production cycle than Sony's platform.

The FCC tests electrical equipment for electromagnetic interference before approving the device for release in the US, with document's discovered on the organisations website revealing that PlayStation 4 passed certification around July 22.

At the time of their discovery, some suggested that the news meant that PlayStation 4 was further ahead in its development cycle than Xbox One.

But according to Microsoft, that's not the case.

"We got FCC approval earlier this summer before PS4," Hryb wrote on Reddit, in response to fans discussing the console's manufacturing process.

Sony announced a release date for PlayStation 4 last week, confirming a November 29 launch in the UK. Xbox One, meanwhile, launches at some point in November.

Perhaps VG, and other sites, are reporting more XB1 content because the MS press office (or whatever the fukc they're called) is releasing more 'news' than the Sony one, irrespective of how inane and pointless the 'news' might be.

Great article by the way, Dave.

I'd go as far as saying this isn't even news. In which case, why is it even being reported? Surely not to get site views and comments?

^ TU to the previous two.

Who cares, eh? Does it make one jot of difference to anyone, now or ever? No.

No it doesn't.

I'll say. Is this is what the discourse has come to so early on?

Just get the one that suits you and be happy.

Why so many idiots all of a sudden. At the birth of each generation of consoles they all seem to crawl out like some sort of gollum creature fixating on "My Precious"

Dave Scammell, what does FCC certification have to do with yield problems, and Microsoft cutting their launch countries by almost half?

Well simply put. Dave alongside other editors on this site just don't seem to like Sony very much for some reason. *shrugs*

It just means that they sent the only Xbone that actually worked along for testing.

To be honest, does anyone really care that much, so long as they both release on time, does it matter if one got safety tested before the other?
