Xbox One has been the UK's "best-selling games console for four weeks in a row", according to an MCV report.

The console is reported to have benefited from PlayStation 4's hardware shortages and Microsoft's official £30 price cut, which came into effect three weeks ago. The launch of Titanfall has helped as well, with Xbox One sales rising 96 per cent during the game's launch week.

However, despite Microsoft's recent sales success, PlayStation 4 allegedly remains the overall best-selling console of the two, with new supply boosting last week's hardware sales by 72 per cent.

MCV states that further PS4 stock will be available this weekend to coincide with the launch of InFamous: Second Son.

Enjoy it while it lasts. A price drop and Titanfall work quite well - but not forever ;)

lets see how close they are when they sell in the same country's! ps4 is in all markets compared to the 15 xbox one sells in. only a fool would think the x1 would sell more considering that!

Still very early days for both consoles. I don't think PS4 has a system seller as such, but I do prefer the interface and what PS Plus has given us so far on PS4 is a great package.

The good thing about the Xbox One dashboard is Microsoft's willingness to completely change it if they want. It feels a bit like a work-in-progress to me at the moment and I'm hoping to see some more changes in the next bunch if updates that will make things like the store and accessing your content easier.

It's odd, really. Everyone was making this big fuss about Xbox One being the media machine with no thought of games and PS4 being for gamers with less of the gubbins, but what we have (in my opinion) is the opposite. The media side of the Ps4 is currently better, with more choice and a better interface to me, but Xbox One currently has the better games (in my opinion, again). Strange how things work out...

And, yes, I'm probably going to get shot down on both sides for my opinions...

Okay I stand corrected. However it's only outselling PS4 by 1,000 units on average. Given the system has a price markdown and a free game. Doesn't change the fact that PS4 will eventually get its game and meet demand. Matter of fact the PS4 had to raise its price.

X1 is faltering whether you can see it or not. Of course when you do 2 promotions you would hope it would outsell the competitor who is supply constrained and had no games coming out.

Not official numbers. You honestly believe that the X1 somehow is selling twice as much 4 weeks prior to titanfall with just a small mark down in price?? And then PS4 increase 70%. X1 is faltering. These are the core gamers finally coming on board. Tell me why again the X1 is being outsold by the PS3 consistently??

You are 100% correct. Main reason I early adopted was as a media unit which is pretty sad!

The one game I have my eye on and pretty much sold me on the system was Quantum Break. I love remedy and up until now have never steered me wrong. However for the most will have to suck it and see. But what they are attempting is the innovation I expected from this generation.

@Dav to be fair I couldn't look at the current line up and pick out a system seller either but I was expecting a little help by calling a diamond in the rough.

I'm not sure I could name a couple of games that are 'must haves' on the PS4 yet. Resogun is ace and has been my favourite game so far but it's not a system seller.

I don't really do the brand loyalty so never quite understand the 'delight' people get in the sales figures. And yes, the domination is ridiculous. Way too early to call and unless there is an absolute trouncing of the other, I wouldn't call it domination.

Don't get me wrong I know that there are LOADS of people who are happy with yet another racing game and yet another shooter and yet another incarnation of Fifa - and to be honest I'm not even sure what it is that I'm actually after to entice me to make the switch - but that's because I'm not innovative in any way, (wish I was I could make a fortune). I just know that I personally need more incentive to part with £400.00 than what is on offer at the moment.
It'll happen soon I know but I'm just massively impatient - I'm really hoping that E3 thsi year will be full of great games to look forward to as I want to be looking forward to making the change!

Agree with you whole heatedly however Titanfall and Forza 5 are must have games for me.

I'm sure a PS4 owner will give you a couple of games that they believe are worth the new console.

I know Titanfall is cross plat as far as PC gaming goes but for me it's reason enough to own a XB1 its the only FPS I've been able to stomach without wanting to pull out my eyeballs for quite a long time and is certainly shifting units.

@Dav I think people buy into a brand. It happens everywhere for example cars, phones even washing machines lol. I think there seems to be some sort of affiliation to a brand. I sort of understand it as it's a passion. What I don't get is the mindless rants and idiotic statements such as "PLAYSTATION DOMINATION" or whatever the hell he writes.
