Stock shortages are over and gamers rush out to buy Microsoft's console.
Following two weeks of severe stock shortages which had made the Xbox 360 almost impossible to find in Japanese stores, renewed supply of the console has arrived and gamers have been snapping them up.
According to Enterbrain sales data (reported by andriasang.com) the Xbox 360 sold 28,681 units in the week September 8-14. In the previous week the console only managed to shift 843 units.
The Xbox 360 even outsold the Wii, which took a big fall to 27,057 units. Meanwhile PS3 sold 8,050 units. Life-to-date sales for the Xbox 360 in Japan now stand at 717,275 units.
The rise in weekly sales can be attributed to both the slashed retail prices for the various Xbox 360 models, plus the release of Square's Infinite Undiscovery. The new RPG didn't beat the first week sales of Tales of Vesperia, but did manage to sell 86,708 units.
