Microsoft has announced that new figures published by Chart Track have revealed a massive 214% rise in sales for the Xbox 360 in the last two weeks. The console also outsold the PlayStation 3 by more than two-to-one in the UK.

Chris Lewis, Vice President, Interactive Entertainment Business EMEA, said: "This data shows that the Xbox 360 trajectory continues upwards, and not just in the UK. We've seen uplift in all countries in Europe and are confident that even at this rate of growth we can keep retail satisfied with a steady supply of consoles throughout the Christmas season. Our commitment to continuously improving and innovating new content, our new high-profile marketing campaign and the fact that we're now the best-value next-gen console on the market with an entry-level ERP of £129.99 combine to make Xbox 360 the right blend of gaming and wider experiences at the right price to offer unparalleled entertainment for everyone. And these figures prove it."

From September 19, Xbox 360, which includes a 60GB hard drive and one wireless controller, has an ERP of £169.99. The Xbox 360 Elite has an ERP of £229.99 and the Xbox 360 Arcade has an ERP of £129.99.

Personally no console needs a price cut!! PS3 price is very good for what your getting. Im surprised the 360 is having another price cut. I dont think 360 needs one, although i think the HDD should be bigger on both consoles. Depends if MS can keep there heads above water with the amount of moeny they have knocked off.

Good time tho with all the worlds economy falling apart. wont belong until other countrys have problems, tooo bloody greedy IMO.

If Sony needed any proof that PS3 needs a price cut, this is it. Also, the Wii is rumoured to be getting a price cut. Sony are soooooo hard faced when it comes to pricing. Never in a million years will they sell the amount of consoles that Nintendo and Micro$oft have sold. The PS3 is £300 in the UK (around $600) which is daylight robbery. I can see the Xbox 360 Arcade coming down to £99.99 at some point in the near future. I hate Sony because they've priced out most gamers.

I'm a Playstation fan but I have to admit, it's begining to look like the end for the PS3.
The stock market is crashing, the economy is in tumoil and Microsoft has a next-gen console selling at $199.00 .. the timing of there price cut couldn't have come at a better time .. these things are going to fly off the shelves this holiday season.

Quite an achievement considering the years 'big hitters' have yet to arrive. Its not hard to imagine sales spiking further when GoW/Fable2/etc get released.

but x360 still got outsold by ps3 when u add all the other euopean countries
plus the surge is temporary too after a typical price cut. X360 is now 1/3 the price of ps3 in UK. PS3 is however hammering it in other eu countries

so still not a god news for MS
UK sales wont offset the huge advantage ps3 is having in other PAL regions
