Wii and Nintendo DS continue to destroy the opposition in North America.

Kotaku reports on July video game hardware predictions made by Electronic Entertainment Design and Research, prior to the official NPD sales figures scheduled for release later this month.

Based on its analysis of early sales, EEDAR expects the Wii and Nintendo DS to come out comfortably on top in July, with sales in the region of 612,545 and 625,445 units respectively.

The firm also expects PS3 sales to fall quite heavily, predicting only 275,444 units in July - some 130,000 units down from its June high. Meanwhile retailer promotions to clear out old 20GB Xbox 360 stock (the 60GB model replaces the 20GB) has seen an upturn in Xbox 360 hardware sales in the region of 100,000 units. The July estimate comes in at 325,488 units.

Nintendo DS rival, the PSP, is unable to match its Japanese popularity in North America, achieving approximately one third of DS sales (235,447 units).
