Xbox 360 obliterates PS3 in Japan
The release of Xbox 360 exclusive Tales of Vesperia had the desired effect for Microsoft.
Media Create reports that the Xbox 360 has continued its recent upturn in sales by demolishing sales of the PS3 in Japan for the week ending August 10. The out of favour console sold 24,962 units over the week, compared to only 9,673 units of the PlayStation 3.
The huge increase in Xbox 360 sales (up from 5,359 units last week) is almost entirely thanks to the release of Namco Bandai's Tales of Vesperia, available exclusively on the Xbox 360. The game was a new entry at No.4 and sold 108,328 units.
It's the usual story elsewhere with the PSP and Nintendo DS continuing to battle for supremacy. It's the DS which comes out on top though (60,434 units), some 2,000 units clear of the PSP (58,501 units). Wii sales are down from 41,109 units to 38,506 units.
It's only the PS2 - 8,502 units - which saves its more powerful sibling from last place.

Previous to this, the PS3 has been selling almost 4 or 5 times as many consoles in Japan as compared to the 360
The Xbox outsells the PS3 by a factor of 2.5 in one week and all of a sudden the PS3 has been "obliterated"?!
What about an article about the DS and PSP Obliterating the 360!
