PS3 IS a JOKE	0 0 In response to Article » Go to 's original post It clearly stated in the article, the shortcommings are due to the fact that there is no guarentee that every 360 owner will have a Hard drive. NOT that it was incapible of processing any code. Infact, I'd be more worried about the PS3 not being able to keep up on the framerate side. 256 MB of Video Mem is NOT always enough... Reply

Now say whatever you like about my comments but let it be known i'm no fanboy, i had all the consoles last time around and my favorite 1 was my PS2. However i wont be buying another Sony product anytime soon, they can stick their rootkit infected cds, they can stick their arrogant statements, their prerendered lies and their trojan horse blu-ray . I'd have said they could stick kutaragi too but it seem that they already have. Brand loyalty to a company that treats it's comsumers like S**T is just plain stupid and mindless fanboyism goes even further than that. Reply

All this fanboy crap is annoying, I am not a fanboy, and I'll be the first to admit I probably enjoyed my PS2 overall more than I did my Xbox. But when I decided to buy a next gen console(timing aside, because I got the 360 Elite that just came out), I did not make my decision based upon whether or not I was going to be able to run F@H or any other application like it, but instead, on the games that are available and will be available for the console. As a raw system, sure the PS3 may be a beast, but I personally feel it's too good for it's own good if you will. It doesn't help any with Sony's childish "our system is awesome" marketing scheme. I still play my N64 more than I play the PS3, because believe it or not, I don't care if my console can power a satellite to go explore the depths of space. I'd rather have fun games to play. Now that all of that is settled, I'll admit that if F@H were available on the X360 I'd likely run it when I'm not using the system. Point being though, while F@H is a great cause, it's not going to sell consoles, and while the PS3 may be able to fold proteins faster or more efficiently than the X360, that doesn't make it a better GAME console, does it? Its loggically that Xbox have better games. But when PS3 communuty grows and when there are "power" games, truly ps3 will be outselling Xbox. If i'm Sudo-student scientist, I'm not sure I would care if the X360 can't fold as fast as a PS3. Wouldnt I just want all the help I can get? Or is this another ploy by Sony? If they've resorted to folding proteins to sell consoles... looks grim. I mean are they trying to make people feel bad if they don't buy a protein folding system? I mean, it's a good jesture but it seems really misguided. Reply

The reason why gears looks great is because of UE3, not the magnificence of the Xenon/Xenos. Unreal Tournament running UE3 on PS3 looks basically the same too. If we're being honest here and really truly honest, the games that will really push the consoles haven't come out yet. UE3 is a great multi-platform engine and GOW that runs on UE3 is an exclusive on the 360. congrats. i've got it. i played it. it's great and its better than Resistance FoM which i played on my ps3. i did some F@H for a while, haven't turned on my PS3 for a while now since, well, its got no games i'm interested in. For that matter, I will not be playing any games for the next few months until the true next gen titles get released. whether that is mgs4, killzone2, crysis on the PC... whatever, I'll be there. I am disappointed that I had to buy 2 consoles to keep my options open, and upgrading my PC to play crysis would be just as expensive, but that is the nature of the beast. With that being said, I'm sure the PS3's Cell, if programmed for specifically, will have impressive games. I've seen the youtube videos of the rsx/cell demos floating around that were recently presented at GDC 2007 and its got a lot of potential. MGS4 and such ilk will most probably be the first wave of titles utilising cell/rsx to anything "above" what the xenon/xenos is capable of. and even then, i'm still keeping my 360 for the games coming out on it since triple core and a GPU that is arguably superior is fine with me. I am a stickler for specifics tho, and although i may confuse some fanboys by touting ps3 then all of a sudden tout the 360 its because i AINT a fanboy - or rather - i'm a fanboy of both. or none. whatever. my point is the xbox360 isn't exactly selling too well overall. slower than the original xbox O_o. i dont expect microsoft to drop the xbox360 but it aint getting my full praise for a second. I give credit to GOW because of the guys at Unreal, NOT because it runs on a xenon/xenos. games look better on the 360 because they are originally made on/for the 360/PC THEN ported over to PS3. If I was a software company i wouldn't spend too much money on the port either. well its sony's fault for wanting to shoe-horn a bluray drive into the thing, they could have released 1 year early with a dvd-drive. but blu-ray and the format war is THAT important to them, so as i said, its the nature of the beast. its stupid. i've spent so much money on hardware - 3 machines (PC, 360, PS3) its ridiculous rollseyes but i do place a high premium on my entertainment options so i dont regret my purchases. Finally, if i had to bet money (and shares online trading) on either sony or microsoft, i'd be betting on both. Sony, as their shareprice has gone from $37 late nov 06 to a 52-week high of $56 last month. microsoft are riding the vista tsunami so both companys have their strong points and the irony is the consoles isn't the centre of the argument although for us the consumer its what we see as the real battle. lol. The irony is, if you look at the F@H homepage there's a score for "GPGPU" which is F@H running on ATI X1900's, which anyone can tell you is a very close relative of the Xbox graphics Xenos chip. It kills the PS3 on a per unit basis. Reply
