Wii U sold 40,000 units at UK launch
News
Effectively a sell-out on the UK High Street, claims retail sources.
Around 40,000 Wii U units were sold in the UK during its first 48 hours, reports MCV.
Retail sources tell the publication that this effectively means a complete sellout on the UK High Street – although both GAME and Amazon appear to have stock available online.
It's difficult to judge how much supply issues have affected launch sales, but 40,000 units does come in considerably short of the Wii's 105,000 units and the Xbox 360's 70,000 units.
MCV also reports that the software attach rate is better than 2:1, although this doesn't include digital purchases.

Very glad I bought mine. Really enjoying New Super Mario Bros U, so much so that I've barely played ZombiU which is great.

A bigger issue is about what this implies about how well games sell in general. If the premium pack makes up 60% of sale, that means only around 24,000 copies of Nintendo land were sold. And yet it still managed 11th. So what has that got to say about the Non-Wii U games that sold worse this week...
