Wii U graphics 'not as powerful' as PS3 and Xbox 360
It's 'not up to the same level' says a developer who's been working on the Wii U.
The Wii U will not be able to match the graphical prowess of either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, a developer who has been working with the console has told GamesIndustry.
"No, it's not up to the same level as the PS3 or the 360," said the developer. "The graphics are just not as powerful."
Another developer backed up these claims, stating: "Yeah, that's true. It doesn't produce graphics as well as the PS3 or the 360.
"There aren't as many shaders, it's not as capable. Sure, some things are better, mostly as a result of it being a more modern design. But overall the Wii U just can't quite keep up."
These reports are a million miles away from the positive buzz around the Wii U's power last summer.
"Some of the developers we spoke to indicated to us that the console will have 50 per cent more processing power compared to the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360," said analyst Arvind Bhatia. "This is yet to be confirmed by Nintendo."
Wii U will be released in North America on November 18 if a leaked release date is to be believed.
VideoGamer.com Analysis
With the full Wii U reveal expected at E3 in June we're inclined to believe the thoughts of developers working on the console and not speculation from an analyst.

I would be surprised if the Wii U isn't at least as "powerful" as the 360 / PS3. Being as good as their successors is the real question, but I think Nintendo has learnt that being the best graphically doesn't always net them best success (insert N64 and GameCube here).

Also "powerful graphics"? lol. Unless this person's first language is not English.
