Featherweight GamePad is lighter than you might think.

The Wii U GamePad is lighter than an iPad, Nintendo has revealed.

According to Wii U tech specs released by Nintendo earlier this evening, the Wii U GamePad weighs approximately 500g (1.1 pounds).

In comparison, the lightest third-generation iPad weighs 652g (1.44 pounds).

There are obvious reasons for the weight differences, of course.

The iPad's screen is covered by a sheet of glass, for example, bumping the device's weight up significantly.

The GamePad's screen, however, is not, and features a shell manufactured from relatively lightweight plastic.

The Wii U GamePad features additional components not found in iPad, however, including motors for the GamePad's rumble features and a pair of analogue sticks.

Earlier tonight, Nintendo also revealed the complete list of titles currently in development for the console.

Wii U launches later this year.

Quite amazed by that, it does look a lot chunkier than the iPad but them glass screens are weighty, iPads strain the muscles in my hands after holding them for a while though so hope it's not the same with this.
