Conflicting information has been coming from Nintendo regarding the region freeness of the Wii.
Gamers rejoiced last week, when Nintendo vice president of marketing Perrin Kaplan revealed that the Wii would be region free, although did point out that third-party publishers could implement a region lock on their titles.
However, the region free capabilities of the Wii have been put in doubt after a Nintendo spokesperson at the UK Wii event on Friday said that Nintendo of America was wrong to say the console was region free and the console is in fact "region-locked."
We could find that the Wii will operate a similar system to the Xbox 360, where it is up to the publisher as to whether or not region restrictions are placed on its games. Hopefully Nintendo Europe will talk to Nintendo of America and make sure they're both on the same page, then let gamers know what the situation is.
