Nintendo to offer a free NES game to those that paid 500 Wii Points for the channel.
Nintendo has announced that from today anyone can now access the Wii Internet Channel for free.
The Wii-specialised web browser from Opera Software enables people to connect wirelessly to the internet and check out their favourite websites, do their internet shopping and even watch online catch-up TV services (BBC iPlayer) via their console.
The Wii Internet Channel was previously priced 500 Wii Points. For those Wii owners who have already spent 500 Wii Points on the Wii Internet Channel, Nintendo will be offering a NES title from the Virtual Console worth 500 Wii Points. This reward will be sent out in late October.

Nintendo on the other hand got the portal to be developed and was within their design idea. I believe the reason for reduction now is because manufacturing cost reductions are subsidising the cost anyhow so this maybe could have been implemented at the start.
