Michel Ancel confirms that there is new IP in development at Ubisoft’s Montpelier studio.
Ubisoft’s Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman and Beyond Good and Evil, has revealed that the publisher has new IP currently in development for Wii U.
This is on top of the five games revealed at Nintendo’s third party roundtable yesterday; Ghost Recon Online, Killer Freaks From Outer Space, a Rabbids title, an Assassin’s Creed title and a fifth yet-to-be-revealed sports game.
Asked whether he had ideas for the new technology, Ancel responded;
"Yeah, of course – I can’t tell too much because we have to keep some surprises, but... "
"So there are other projects already in the works? " asked VideoGamer.com
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. And in the Montpelier studio there are some very important projects connected to the Wii U."
It’s already been revealed that a Raving Rabbids title is in the works, could one of these secret projects involve Rayman himself?
"Not yet " responds Ancel. "Honestly, we are really focusing on [Rayman Origins] for those platforms – 360, PS3 and Wii – so no, I’m really not thinking about anything else."
So we can assume the new projects will be based on new IP?
"Yeah, yeah, definitely." he says.
