The Witcher Netflix series release date seems to have been leaked in a post from the official Netflix Netherlands Facebook account, as spotted by Redanian Intelligence

The post has since been deleted, but it detailed how many days are left until shows such as the fifth series of Peaky Blinders, the third series of Atypical, and The Witcher arrive on the platform. The Witcher was stated to be 97 sleeps away, which places its release date on December 17 2019. Given that abrupt disappearance of the announcement, it’s quite likely that we won’t be waiting much longer for the silver haired monster hunter to grace the small screen.

The Witcher Netflix series will not follow the stories of the games, but will take inspiration from the books and will be a ‘very adult show.’ Henry Cavill will play Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra takes on the role of Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Freya Allan is Ciri. Most importantly, Geralt’s trusty companion Roach will appear in the adaptation, though presumably without his strange powers of teleportation.

Netflix has not confirmed the release date, and if you’re yearning to return to the witchy world, there’s a The Witcher 3 mod that recasts Geralt with Henry Cavill instead. Doug Cockle, voice of the White Wolf, thought it was kind of funny.
