Other Final Fantasy games need to be as good first, says CEO
Fans might have been asking for it for yonks, but Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada says the Final Fantasy franchise "would be done with" if the publisher was to release a remake of Final Fantasy VII right now.
Summarised on Andriasang, the publisher said it will only release the FFVII remake when other games in the series exceed the quality of almost everyone's favourite JRPG of all time.
If games like Final Fantasy XIII-2 are the best the studio can do at the moment, then, I imagine we'll be waiting a very, very long time.
Last week a leak suggested a non-remade Final Fantasy VII may soon be heading to Steam, complete with cloud saves and achievements.
