Source: Rebellion Battlefront III reports aren't wrong

Aliens Vs Predator dev working on ex-Free Radical Design project.

Rebellion is working on Star Wars Battlefront III, a source within the industry has told VideoGamer.com today.

Following yesterday's reports on the closure of UK-based development studio Free Radical Design, rumours emerged that development of Star Wars Battlefront III had been moved to Rebellion - the Oxford-based studio behind the recent Call of Duty: World at War for PlayStation 2, Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron for PSP and the excellent Aliens Vs Predator, released for PC in 1999.

According to the source: "Rumours of Rebellion doing the Battlefront III project aren't wrong."

Assuming the source's comment is accurate, this confirms that the next Star Wars Battlefront game has not been cancelled along with the demise of Free Radical Design, news which is sure to please fans of the series.

cool!

I can not wait!..I hope this turns out into a good game i spent alot of time on starwars battlefront 2 it got me into playing online and it was fun when no one was glitching into the walls LOL i hope it comes out this year....or soon....

Yeah I'm not really sure about this. I've been actively following rumours of Star Wars: Battlefront III since the summer of 2006, and nearly everything points to Free Radical Design. But then again, I'm just a fankid.

The Truth

The truth is this, yes frd was making bf3, although many seem to forget the massive turn over of staff at lucasarts a few months back, this turnover included the people in charge of bf3, the new people, even though frd had secured bf4 with the original lucasarts being so happy with bf3 decided they couldn't afford to finish the intended title with all its features with frd and have decided to get Rebellion to do a cheaper cut down version of the original pitch!!!!!

Sounds like the demise of the bf series to me, the frd version really had some jaw dropping moments

I'm going crazy if SWBFIII:
is not released for PC,
is worse then its previous games,
have no jedi or jedi-only map (like in the SWBFII - Mos Esley, Assault)

Seriously, I love these games - Don't fu<k it up :)
