Sony has suspended the option to redeem voucher codes on PlayStation 4 as part of an ongoing attempt to stabilise PlayStation Network.

In an update on PlayStation Blog, Sony reiterated that it was "aware that users are experiencing some disruption to the PSN service. To minimise the inconvenience we have suspended the 'redeem voucher' functionality whilst we investigate further.

"Unfortunately this means that money cards, product vouchers, PlayStation Plus vouchers, PS3-PS4 upgrade vouchers and any other vouchers for digital content are not redeemable at this stage. Other PSN features such as log-in, online multi-player gaming, PlayStation Plus trial, PS Store (excluding voucher redemption), trophies, messages, friends etc. are all available.

"We apologise and will provide an update to this announcement soon."

Voucher redemption is the third feature to be suspended on PSN, joining the 'What's New' and 'Content Information Screen' functionality which had already been disabled to help alleviate server load.

Multiple users – VideoGamer.com included – have experienced trouble logging into PSN following the launch of PS4 earlier today.

Yesterday, Sony said that it expected to see a "record number" of players attempting to log in to the service as a result of PlayStation 4's European launch.

I had trouble with the AC4 DLC and U-Play passport codes on Friday. So logged in to PS3 and entered them there successfully using the Account Management > Redeem Codes option. Went back to PS4 and Uplay passport was now detected when starting AC4, went to the PSN store and it now said the DLC had been purchased, so I downloaded it. Glad I had my PS3 as backup!

Huh I had no issues logging in yesterday evening and my downloads fairly flew but that was at like 2am Friday and logging in was fine until I went to bed at 12 o'clock last night. I wonder if it's just the UK PSN cluster that's overwhelmed (I'm in Ireland on UPC so I often wind up using dutch mirrors)

I was waiting on Battlefield 4 on ps3 to arrive in the post today so i could upgrade it to the ps4 version, looks like that won't be happening today, they must have known this might happen, why didn't they plan for it better. This needs to be improved upon asap.
