Sony says the best is still to come
PS3 sales are up and we're still to see the release of GTA4, GT5 Prologue and MGS4.
Following a second successive month in which the PlayStation 3 outsold the Xbox 360 in the US, Sony has called 2008 the "year for PS3".
"Consumers are recognizing the tremendous value of PS3 and we believe that Blu-ray becoming the high-def format of choice was the tipping point for many consumers," said Jack Tretton, president and CEO, SCEA. "With monster titles like Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Grand Theft Auto IV launching in April and Metal Gear Solid 4 in June, we're demonstrating this is the year for PS3."
The platform holder also pointed to a string of blockbuster titles heading to the console later this year, including LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2 and MotorStorm 2.
Figures for the PlayStation Network are also positive, with 3.3 million North American registered accounts. During February total downloads on the network exceeded 6.3 million.
