October 2008 sales in the US represent a 56% increased when compared to October 2007.
Sony Computer Entertainment America has responded to the October 2008 video game sales figures for the US, as compiled by NPD Group.
190,000 units of the PS3 were sold to consumers during October, a figure SCEA notes is an increase of 56 per cent compared to October 2007. According to Sony this year-on-year increase in sales can be attributed to "an unmatched line-up of first-party and third-party titles". Speaking of which, Sony noted that 2.3 million PS3 software units were sold during October, representing a 200 per cent year-over-year increase.
Regarding the PSP, Sony noted that sales of 193,000 units represented a year-to-date growth of 9 per cent. Sony also stated that the PS2 sold a further 136,000 units and 1.7 million software units. The console's installed base is now over 43 million units in the US.
