Is giving away three game downloads for new PSPgo owners who also have a PSP and a UMD game.

To celebrate the upcoming launch of the PSPgo, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced a special promotion to help existing PSP owners with UMDs to start their digital games collection - they're giving away three full games for free.

In order to qualify for the promotion you need to own a PSP (1000, 2000 or 3000) and at least one UMD game and follow these instructions:

1. Unwrap your PSPgo and start it up
2. Connect to PlayStation Network and activate your new or existing PlayStation Network account for PSPgo Rewards
3. Start up your current PSP and connect to PlayStation Network
4. Login using the same PlayStation Network account , and launch PlayStation Store
5. Pop one of your UMDs into the drive of your current PSP and register on PSPgo Rewards when prompted 6. Download a PSPgo theme
7. Wait for your email voucher for your three free games

There are seventeen titles to choose from:

The promotion starts October 1, 2009 and runs until March 31, 2010.

And don't forget that new PSPgo owners will also be able to claim a free download of Gran Turismo 5 when registering before October 10.

No i actually dont think that it will hurt sales but this new psp is just catering to another sale demographic, people who prefer to buy online/download rather than go out and keep a physical copy. They are also preparing for the digital market transistion that will be effecting store sales in the coming years.

This switch is probably going to hurt the PSP sales... I am kind of hesitant on buying the new hand held because I kind of do not want to lose all of my UMD games, and also I do not want to wait for them to put some of the PSP games releasing soon on PSN.

Only 3 now, it's gone from 5 to 3. Not good for people with a large collection, though they can at least get some money back in CEX.
