Top retail partners reported a 300% lift in PSP hardware sales in the days following the PSPgo launch.
Sony's been keeping actual sales figures for the launch of its PSPgo a secret, but has been bold enough to offer some stats on the increase in sales brought about by the new handheld.
In the UK PSP sales were reported to be up some 120 per cent thanks to the launch of the PSPgo. In the US this figure has been as high as 300 per cent at some of Sony's "top retail partners".
Patrick Seybold, Sr. Director, Corporate Communications and Social Media for SCEA, told Kotaku that the PSPgo has "generated strong consumer interest in the overall PSP platform and the PlayStation Network's digital content offering".
This has been reflected by a "significant increase in revenue for PlayStation Network, driven by a 200 per cent lift in PSP game downloads purchased from PlayStation Store" in North America.
Seybold was also confident the PSP won't simply return back to its former slumped state.
"With several blockbuster games launching digitally and on UMD in the coming weeks - from LittleBigPlanet to Assassin's Creed Bloodlines - we expect this momentum to continue and look forward to a strong holiday season for both the PSPgo and PSP-3000," said Seybold.
