Makes it cheaper to get games released on the platform.
Speaking at Casual Connect (reported by Game Daily), Sony Europe developer relations manager George Bain has revealed that Sony has removed the approval process for developers wishing to release games on the PlayStation 2.
Bain said that in Europe the PS2 "is effectively an open platform," adding that developers "no longer have to submit a game for content approval". Independent developers, such as those in Russia and India, should now be able to "create low-development cost titles and release them in their market," Bain stated.
As of June 30 the PS2 had sold 131.3 million units worldwide, with software sales totalling over 1.4 billion units.
