slim ps2 playstation 2 -

Sony has confirmed that it has ceased production of its PlayStation 2 console, 12 years after the system launched in 2000.

Over 150 million PlayStation 2s have been sold worldwide, making it possible for consumers to gobble up a whopping 1.52 billion software titles.

Piers Harding-Rolls, a senior analyst at IHS Screen Digest, said: "Sony also had a hugely successful marketing strategy, especially its association with football, which saw it gain great penetration in many territories where console gaming was underdeveloped. The PS2 went beyond the first PlayStation by expanding its audience in its later years, introducing lifestyle and social games that helped drive adoption in the mid-2000s." Analysis

You'll be hard-pushed to find a gamer who doesn't have fond memories of the PS2. Share yours in the comments section below.

Whatever factories Sony have left. I heard that with their factories being somewhat ripped apart when the Tsunami hit Japan. All products that Sony have sold have all made a loss. Just what I heard and take it like a pinch of salt.
