Rockstar working to resolve PC GTA 4 issues

Is aware of a 'small number of fans' having problems.

The highly anticipated PC release of Grand Theft Auto IV has been met with a whole string of problems reported by players of the game on gaming forums across the internet. Problems range restrictive graphics settings even on powerful systems, texture errors, general error and installation error codes and on the whole quite poor performance.

Speaking to GTA Gaming, Rockstar said:

"We are aware that a small number of fans are having problems running GTA IV on their PCs and we would like to assure them we are working to help solve these as quickly as possible.

"We would ask anyone that is encountering difficulties to contact their local technical support helpline for advice and recommendations. These telephone numbers can be found in the game's manual.

"There is also a regularly updated technical support page available on the Rockstar Games website http://www.rockstargames.com/support/ where there are many useful faqs and information on how to resolve some common problems being encountered."

Regarding the inaccessible higher graphical settings, Rockstar has said that these have been "provided for future generations of PCs with higher specifications than are currently widely available".

I can see the lights of buildings and cars and neon sighs and i can hear the traffic and people. I can see the lights of bridge but the cars are floating because i cant see the ground of bridge. I have a gaimg pc. I have intel core2 duo 2.6 oveerclcoked to 3.4, 4 gigs of ram at 1100 mhz, and 2 xfx 8800 gt alpha in sli on 780i xfx, and I have vista sp1. I can play fear and half life 2, and far cry 2 and all my other games in highest settings with nmo problems. I have returned the game and ebgames store gave me a knew game and I still have video problems. I have tried just using 1 video card but no luck I have installed othe drivers or and also reistalled same drivers for my video card and update everything in my pc still have same problem, I need help. I have contacted rockstar tech more than 1 and just yeterday I sen them pictures from my cell of the video problem the game shows. someone please help. Reply

These guys are becoming politicians. When will people accept their responsibilities. The game runs like utter crap on even the newest PCs. I have the PS3 version, but still went out and purchased the PC version. My PC is a few months old and can be considered "high spec". Even on the lowest settings, the best FPS I get is 17. I cannot log into the social network and windows live crashes every time I try to log in, which means I cannot save any progress even if I wanted to play the game. I have spent days trying to resolve the problems. This is a complete waste of time of the game was released too early. I opened a trouble ticket with 2K Games and the poor support engineer told me they are overwhelmed with GTA IV PC customer problems. Reply

forge	0 0 In response to Article » Go to 's original post I bought the game and thought I was getting a quality product from a great company. As Rockstar has always been great. This release does not even work on my machine. Like many others have reported, on boot it throws up a DOS Box for a few secs then quietly exits. Nothing. I have no problems logging into The RSSS crap which is useless. I can log into Windows - Live, which is also useless. I didn't want that crap, I just wanted to play GTA4. No more do I trust Rockstar after this mess. If I had of known they had jumped into bed with Microsoft on this, I would have avoided it. I need to pay closer attention in the future. Reply

I can log into all that other bullsh*t and activate. Did all the updates people have suggested. This game is being sold to THIS GENERATION of PC owners and game players, lol. I can play it but only at minimum resolution with every vid setting down way low or at its lowest. And it won't even allow me to set anything higher. I'll be returning this game to the store if I am forced to play in this little box in the center of my screen. I will also not be upgrading anything (cept the driver available thru Nvidia) like my vid card to be able to play it. According to Rockstars own info my PC surpasses all specs necessary to run this game at much higher settings than they will allow me to. This would look fine on a PSP but to expect me to be happy not being able to utilize my entire monitor screen playing this game is ridiculous and unacceptable. Reply
