Using a password-controlled setting, the person responsible for a child's gaming habits can easily set what age rated games will be accessible. In Europe Nintendo games are rated using the PEGI age rating system with the bands 3+, 7+, 12+, 16+ or 18+. These age bands will be used by the revolution to determine which games the system will allow younger gamers to play. The system will also allow older gamers to play games with no restrictions.

Every Revolution title will contain code indicating the game's rating. This will activate the control system preventing an unsuitable game from being played. This system will be included in all Revolution consoles worldwide.

"Even though most Nintendo games are appropriate for all ages and the game ratings are clearly displayed on the front of every game package, this added feature encourages parents to take responsibility for the games their children play," said Jim Merrick, Senior Marketing Director, Nintendo of Europe.
