Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has said that the Revolution will get a simultaneous worldwide launch in 2006.

Don't expect to get your hands on the Revolution to soon though, as Iwata has said that the console will not launch before March 2006. Speaking to Nikkei Business Iwata said: "I can only say that it's coming out during 2006, but it will be after the current fiscal year." Iwata also discussed sales targets for the Revolution, stating that it is most important that the console sells more units than the GameCube. This means the Revolution will need to sell in excess of 18.76 million units.

"[Revolution] would be a complete failure if we didn't sell more units than the Nintendo GameCube," said Iwata.

A simultaneous worldwide release would be a very good thing indeed, but given Nintendo's previous treatment of Europe compared to the rest of the world, forgive us for being a little sceptical.
