psp go -

A UK retail source has confirmed to MCV that once current stock of the PSPgo is sold the handheld will disappear from stores.

According to the source, no further stock of the PSPgo will be supplied to the retail channel.

The news follows rumours of the PSPgo's imminent end in Japan.

Despite growing evidence that the handheld's time is up, Sony remains non-committal on the subject.

Earlier today SCE UK told MCV: "It is a very exciting time for PlayStation portable devices. Before the end of the year we are launching NGP, our next generation portable device, which we believe will revolutionise portable gaming.

"In the meantime, the current generation of PSPs continue to be in demand, especially since the introduction of our value for money, Essentials range of games and we will continue to meet that demand."

hardly surprising, it was over-priced, uncomfortable, too fiddly (i think) and too different from any other PSP

If they had priced this right it might have been an interesting experiment. Still too early for digital only though.

The PSPGo: A future novelty collectors item just like the N-Gage and the Gizmondo!

I still don't quite understand Sony's portable strategy. Releasing two separate devices to compete in the same market and neither device sporting a distinct advantage over the iPhone/iTouch or 3DS.

Such is the draw of physical media, having a tangible disc that can be sold, traded or transferred easily between owners.

So all those who did buy this have been stiffed , just like the people who bought GO Explore and Sony never ever supported it . As long as NGP can play the back catalogue of PSP games digitally all is not lost but Sony need to have a 5-10yr plan for NGP or the faith in their underperforming handhelds will be unrecoverable.
