Over the last few days it has been revealed that hackers (or just some clever programmers) have figured out how to play software such as emulators on the PSP. While this has been possible on older Japanese PSPs for some time, this new hack supposedly works with version 1.5 PSPs. Sony have apparently already released a new firmware update for the system, 1.51, which prevents the hack from working.
The biggest concern for Sony is the eventual ability to play pirated games on the PSP. Many people believe that it won't be long until it will be possible to play ripped PSP games via a memory stick. We obviously don't condone pirated software and hope Sony can clamp down on this before it happens. Emulation is something that may well interest more people, but is probably equally frowned upon by Sony.
