Some features of the PS4 will not be available at launch, Sony Computer Entertainment has confirmed.

Whilst the majority of features we've been promised will be patched into the system with software 1.5 update available at launch, the likes of "suspend/resume mode" won't be ready for early adopters.

"Some features will not be available at launch, such as "suspend/resume mode" which is a feature that keeps the PS4 system in a low power state and promptly takes users back to their game," wrote Sony in a new blog post. "We will provide additional information about system software update version 1.50 and features available at the PS4 system's launch, and features that will be available after launch, in the near future."

PS4 launches in the UK on November 29.

I think the reason for all these delays with Sony is because they chose a release date that was just too early for them and they did this because they were more worried and concerned about Microsoft release date, Microsoft having a big head start was not an option for them. It caused them to rush things and rushing things means less planning and focus which leads to mistakes etc and then there are the usual little hold ups, problems and niggles that all companies and products suffer.

It really isn't that big a deal it is probably something they thought would be in day one but some complication delayed the feature. It's much worse when a company advertises a feature deliver it then take it away.

Also the lack of true information on other services. For example Gaikai launches in US in early 2014. You would assume that this would of been a launch service. However, this worsens when you look at the European market where Gaikai has been delayed with no announcement on a possible launch citing internet speeds as the cause early guesses are 2015.

The same goes for Xbox 1 and the cloud we have heard so much about it but none of it concrete.

I don't really get why they release stuff when they have not fully implenented everything they want in it.

Might as well be getting an early prototype at launch, that's what it looks like with all these stripped features.

I never said it was right to do this, I just simple stated that they did not say it would be day one. I personally hate how games and gaming hardware is going, ever since we have had the ability to update on the fly consoles have been rushed out and have had feature patched in after launch. The same goes with games most of the time on steam games are only early access or lets take minecraft for example it is released but still being updated. The moment someone give an option to complete something at a later date they will get lazy, simple as.

That is a weak point. They demoed it "Live" on stage. That gives the impression it is good to go. It wasn't announced as coming later as an update so you presume it works like that out of the box. The fact is the demos are just powerpoint presentations or video most of the time using the controller to trigger the next slide or even just to give the impression that they are in control when actually its the guy on the PC behind.

That is the same across the board not just a Sony thing.

Did you expect anything else? Been through this way too many times to take anything for granted.

Wasn't this one of the really big features shown on reveal? Shame, Sony is the one we've been relying on being best at release. Neither can keep their release promises.

This is a feature I don't mind waiting for. I mean I will most likely either have the ps4 on or off anyways.
