Around 139,000 PS4 consoles were sold in the UK during Black Friday week, narrowly beating Xbox One by just 5,000 units, it’s been revealed.

As reported by MCV, Xbox One is said to have shifted almost 134,000 units during the week, with 42,000 split between Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita.

The data includes sales between Sunday, November 22 and Saturday, November 28, but excludes Sunday, November 29 and Cyber Monday.

Both PS4 and Xbox One were heavily discounted for the Black Friday weekend, with Microsoft’s console dipping to as low as £219.99 and Sony’s to £239.99. Refurbished PS4s were also available for below £200, although it isn’t clear whether sales of those account towards the sales figures.

Sales of both consoles are also up over last year’s Black Friday, with PS4 recording an increase of 28.6% and Xbox One 23.3%.

The best-selling game, meanwhile, was FIFA 16, which recorded a 254% sales increase following heavy discounts.
