ps3 final hardware 11 - PS3 sales double year-on-year

Sony has announced its Q1 financial year 2008 results, which includes sales figures for its three gaming platforms for the three-month period ended June 30.

Both the PSP and PS3 have performed better than in the same quarter in fiscal 2007. The PS3 improved by over 100% with sales up from 0.70 million to 1.56 million units. PSP sales are up from 2.13 million to 3.72 million units. Sales of the PS2 are still strong at 1.51 million units, but down from the 2.66 million units sold in Q1 2007.

Obviously helped by the much larger installed base, PS3 software sales for the quarter were up dramatically year-on-year from 4.7 million units to 22.8 million units. PS2 software sales were down from 31.1 million to 19.3 million and PSP software was slightly up from 9.8 million to 11.8 million units.
