PS3 sales ahead of Xbox 360 in Europe

5 million consoles sold across Europe - more than the Xbox 360 despite later release date.

Speaking at PlayStation Day, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss David Reeves has announced that 5 million PlayStation 3 consoles have been sold across Europe. Reeves pointed out that this is more than the current European installed base for Xbox 360, despite being on the market for less time.

Reeves also noted that 48 million PlayStation 2s have been sold across Europe to date and that the PSP has shifted more than 12 million.

Got ps3 on uk launch date and have never thought i'd made a mistake. Know a few people with a 360 and none of the games really appealed to me. I think there's more variety of games on ps3 that appeal to me and alot of consumers probably feel the same and that is why PS3 is gaining on the 360 in terms of sales.

Azure it could do... it has what around 12 mill more sails...? Sure thats an impressive lead but its not that big a deal when they'll be around 200 million consoles sold this gen!
