According to Sony Computer Entertainment America, it sold a record 440,000 PlayStation 3 units over Black Friday (the first Friday following Thanksgiving) and the rest of the holiday weekend.

"The 2009 holiday season got off to an amazing start for PlayStation, with all key retailers showing a significant increase for PS3, PSP and key holiday titles over Black Friday and the holiday weekend," Sony told Kotaku. "In today's economy, consumers are drawn to items that offer the most value for their money, making the PS3 an ideal choice for those who want a comprehensive gaming and entertainment system all in one package."

Black Friday is one of the busiest shopping days of the year and marks the start of the Christmas shopping season.

Well done, now start producing some more "AAA" titles and dont cheese of euro/pal gamers with staggered releases anymore ie God of War Collection (I'm aware that the PS3 is region free and can be imported, but that's not the point!!) Oh and get Polyphony to release GT5 before Forza 4 would be nice too!!!

well if sony didnt take their time, they would be making average games and not AAA titles which are guaranteed a score of atleast 9.0

by the end of next year, ps3 will have taken over xbox and with one more price drop, xbox will sink.

hah, yes, good point. Polyphony seem to be taking ages. Longer with each GT release in fact.
