PS3 motion controller rumoured for E3
NewsPosted 01/05/2009 - 12:08pm GMT+1
Said to precisely track movements.
According to Variety's The Cut Scene, Sony will unveil a PlayStation 3 motion controller at E3 next month.
The information comes by way of several sources, one of whom is said to have seen the device and two of whom are familiar with Sony's E3 plans. One source saw a working prototype several months ago and, because of the device's ability to read different colour lights and the shape and angle of each light, is said to be much more accurate than the standard Wii Remote.
If the E3 reveal turns out to be accurate, the motion controller could form a double announcement from Sony, with the PSP Go! Also expected to be unveiled at the video games expo.

To an extent they already both have some of the casual market through singstar, Buzz and LBP etc on PS3 and Lips, Scene It! and In the Movies etc on 360.

Pb is totally right about the audience as of games like Buzz, Lips, Stingstar and LBP plus the others. It will be interesting to see what it would be like for the PS3 on how to interact with games.

Sorry guys if it seemed I was dissing the PS3 - it wasn't actually meant that way at all - hence the LOL! at the end of the sentence.
I was actually both laughing at Woffls discription as a Wiggle Waggle and actually agreeing with what he was saying about the casual market not being interested in paying a high price just because of the Wiggle Waggle!
We all know that the only way to influence a casual market is price so what Woffls has said is the truth - and I don't think he should be getting Thumbed Down for that!
But at the same time it has been pointed out that maybe it's not going to be aimed at the casual market, which is a very good point (even if unlikely).
EDIT - Jake has hit the nail on the head though - If the PS3 and the 360 all end up with these motion wiggle waggle things then it can only be good for all!

Thinking the exact same thing. The bad thing about microsoft that has really annoyed me or bugged me was the Characters, i mean come on WTF complete rip off Wii! its as if they thought " we'll copy that annnnnndd....errrrmmmm....keep it like that" No changes apart from more clothes and make up..maybe. With Sony, they took it completely diferently, " oh thats nice, dem cartoon characters that Wii and mircosoft have, lets make ours more human like and more original (for console that is)"

But therein lies the problem; most of the 'core' gaming community will disregard it outright because of the connotations with Wii and the type of gaming it offers. Developers have hardly embraced the sixaxis well, so from their perspective it might not be worth the investment.
I also think, from a personal standpoint, that this falls in line with the majority of Sony's decisions from the last 3 years. Namely "okay, they did this, so we'll do it but BETTERER".

To be fair who said it was aimed at the casual market?
