PS3 might not last as long as PS2, says Sony
News
PS3 won't be around as long as the PS2, suggests SCEE president.
Whilst Sony has pledged continued support for the PlayStation 3, don't expect to see the console living on in the same way the PlayStation 2 managed.
Asked by the PlayStation Blog where the PS4 announcement leaves the PS3, Sony Computer Entertainment president and CEO Jim Ryan said: "We're actually still selling PS2s in regions such as the Middle East seven years after we introduced PS3. There are a number of reasons why the transition might be a bit more accelerated this time round, but PS3 is a very important part of our portfolio, certainly in 2013, 2014 and probably beyond that."
Back at the PS4 announcement SCE UK MD Fergal Gara told VideoGamer.com that the PS3 won't be forgotten.

Why continue to focus on what they have admited to be a difficult platform to create for.
Backwards compatibility won't exsist in the PS4 in disc for at least. It'll cost to much money to place a PS4 inside a PS3 to be economical and viable.
So, Sony should just let PS3 go after 2 and a half years.
I think that's a realistic time for change over.
