PlayStation 3 price rumoured

Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shimbum publishes the supposed Japanese launch price of the PS3.

Even though Sony haven't even announced an exact release date for the PlayStation 3, Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shimbum have published what they have been told to be the price of the console when it is released in Japan next year. According to the paper, Sony officials told them that the console will cost 50,000 yen ($465/£255). Many day-one purchasers may not mind paying £250 for a console, but actual prices are never as simple as a price conversion.

The Sony PSP can be bought for approximately £130 from the US, but the console will debut in the UK on September 1st at a cost of £180. If this supposed price for the PlayStation 3 is correct, UK gamers could be paying anything from £350 to £400. This would be considerably more than the rumoured price of the Xbox 360, which people expect to be released at a much more affordable price; as will the Nintendo Revolution.

Of course, this is all speculation and rumour. We'll let you know if we hear any more.

consider the ps3 as a bluray player which at the moment is £999 thats the cheapest unless u get it knocked off..So £300-£400 is cheap considering ur getting a bargain on the bluray player itself plus u get the added bonus' of playing game goin online 60Gb storage blutooth wireless controllers up 2 7 at a time playing so look at it like this its not all the exspensive its a BARGAIN..!

Well, according on information I read all about it here I'm not going to buy it for such a money. I think it is too much and then again you've got to buy games which are very expensive. They think(sony) they are smart but we'll see who is smarter at the end of the day.

Hi guys! Ok I know the launch is march 2007! :scared: But I heard the PS3 was going to be released ages ago, so i got in touch with a company in London i knew in Mayfair, and they were well known for Importing PS2's on release. They got in touch and told me to visit there website. This was about a year ago.

so i went to the site and they wanted a £100 deposit and then the final payment a month before they will send the console. So I did and becuase i did this, I recently got an email saying the delay will not effect me because they are gettin them staright from Japan.:p

And because i payed my deposit early as I did, i have a secured a unit that will be arriving on my door step on the 11th/17th Nov.:lick: :p Not boaasting :blushing:, but if you guys wanted a rough idea then i think it will cost £400 - £500 :bored: But its worth it. :) Im not going to complain unless i see the goods.:blush: I seen videos on net of the ps3 being played and it looks ****in amazing! :hottie:

it is terrible game.com are sellingfor over £500 ($980) and yet it is £300 in america ($600) i cant believe it. i bought a computer with 2gigs of ram 300gb hardrive latest nvidia graphics and speakers etc.. for that price they can get lost! i am not paying that they need to lower the price right down!. check the games out £49.99 each!

They say that the (HDD) is already built in the ps3 it's self, online is free, Blu-Ray disks can be played without buying anything special for the ps3 thanks to the (HDD) built in, but, you have 4 controler plugs and wireless controlers but I still think it is too pricy.

Does sound like a hefty price tag but you do have to consider the amount of stuff built in to the ps3 without paying any extras

I think that the PS3 cost way too much. I don't want to pay $600 for 1 system. I don't think that the PS3 will be selling alot because it cost too much and no one will buy it. The games itself are $60-$100 dollars for one game. I won't buy it until the prices go down, which I don't think will happen for a long time.
