PlayStation 3 is five today in Europe
News
Has come a long way since its launch price of £425.
The PlayStation 3 turns five in Europe today, having launched in the UK on Friday, March 23, 2007 at the astronomical price of £425.
Those willing to part with such a huge amount of cash were offered a somewhat lacklustre line-up of titles, but the now established PS3 franchises MotorStorm and Resistance were present. Third party support was there, but it took years for studios to match the quality of the same games on Xbox 360.
Yet the console sold an impressive 600,000 units in its first two days on sale in Europe, 173,000 in the UK alone.
The PlayStation 3 has now sold four million units in the UK.
VideoGamer.com - then Pro-G - was at the UK launch and you can see all the action in the video below.

I remember getting my PS3, not at launch but soon after. It had just dropped to £399 and I had shares due out so it was an omen!
Still have the original Motorstorm I got with it and all the games in that series since. I do love my PS3.
