Play-Asia cancels PS3 pre-orders

Online import specialist Play-Asia informs customers that it is unable to send PlayStation 3 branded products to Europe.

In an email sent in the early hours, Play-Asia has informed customers who had placed a pre-order for a PS3 that it will no longer be able to fulfil any PS3 orders.

"We regret to inform you that due to licensing and distribution limitations, Play-Asia.com will not be able to send PlayStation3 branded products to your territory," reads the email sent to its customers.

In addition, all PS3 games, accessories and consoles on the website have been changed to say "preorders closed."

The removal of all PS3 items is highly likely to be linked to recent moves by Sony to prevent the importing of PlayStation products. A quick look at fellow import specialist YesAsia reveals that they also won't be shipping PS3s to Europe. An amendment to the Terms & Conditions reads: "PS3 will not be shipped to any countries in the European Union (EU)"
